Do you have a project that will enhance lives or contribute to sustainability in your rural community? The FCC AgriSpirit Fund may provide fund to projects that qualify in a city, town or Indigenous community with fewer than 150,000 people.

Types of projects we consider:

• Capital projects – construction or upgrades to a hospital, medical centre, childcare facility, rink, sportsplex or the purchase of fire and rescue equipment
• Sustainability projects - upgrades to heating and cooling systems in a community building, installing new windows in a recreation centre or purchasing capital items for a recycling facility

The Fund was created by Galiano Islanders who have come together as lenders to the Fund to support borrowers in the community who:

• want to start or expand a business on the island
• need access to affordable housing on the island
• want to develop marketable skills to use on Galiano
• have a worthwhile project that will benefit the community

Our signature initiative funding (combined loans and grants) helps Canadian cities and communities of all sizes implement bold environmental projects that reduce GHG emissions and protect the air, water or land. This funding is designed to accommodate transformative, best-in-class municipal projects, meaning they’re highly innovative and impactful.

The Social Innovation Fund (SIF) supports organizations looking to strengthen their capacities in order to scale for greater impact. SIF grants to high potential/high impact organizations are integrated with special convenings, plus technical and peer support, through Innoweave or the Social Innovation Learning Program (SILP).

How does the Social Innovation Fund Work?

The McConnell Social Innovation Fund will support work that is congruent with the Foundation’s own mission and granting priorities, in the following categories:

1. Early Stage Consolidation  

• Community sector organizations that have proven or promising early stage innovations and that need additional support to create the capacity and conditions to effectively sustain them.

2. Re-Tooling for Growth 

• Established organizations that are operating successful social innovations which they are planning to scale up to meet growing demand.
• Established organizations (over $1 million annual budget) that are introducing new innovations that significantly modify or complement their core business. 

We fund national and province-wide initiatives from $20,000 up to $200,000 that enable those in need to achieve their full potential through public health and technology initiatives.
